Horseshoe Casino Tunica Poker Room

Overview

Part of Horseshoe Casino Hotel Tunica

The Horseshoe offers a 10-table, non-smoking room that's a favorite with Tunica visitors.  The room spreads a variety of limit, NL, stud and Omaha, as well as weekly tournaments.

Wait lists are maintained by hand; expect waits of an hour or more at peak times.

Tables and chairs are exceptional; some of the nicest you'll see anywhere.  Almost all of the tables have automatic shufflers.  Dealers at the Horseshoe range from good to inefficient; the auto-shufflers help keep the action moving.

The Horseshoe is generous with their player comps.  Players are treated well by the floor staff and food comps are pretty much a given for players putting in a few hours of play.  Food and drink service is available, but players report that you can serve yourself faster at the adjacent bar or have the brush bring food in from the snack bar.

So this was a refreshing trip for me, i havent been playing much.
I played a cash game 1/ 3 table. i started the night with 200 dollars
in chips. it was slow for hours, it was one of those nights that i just

Impressions: The Horseshoe is my room of choice in Tunica. I play at the 'Shoe almost all the time when I am in Tunica. I enjoy playing here and I would recommend it to anyone who would want my opinion.
Atmosphere: The room is in the back right corner of the casino if you go in the front door and to the right if you are coming out of the parking garage. The tables and chairs are some of the nicest that I have played on. Almost all of the tables have automatic shufflers which makes the games go faster. It is a newly renovated room. It has plasmas on the walls and it is a non smoking room.
Dealers: Like I said earlier. The tables have automatic shufflers which makes the game go faster. The dealers are Ok. There are some good and bad. Some of the dealers are new and you can tell. The last time I was in Tunica there was an Asian girl and it must have been her first day, because she was so slow. Hopefully by the next time I go she will no longer be there or have gotten a lot better.
Food: One of the complaints that I have is that drink service can take a while. There is a bar next to the poker room, so you can go get your own if your favorite beverage is almost empty!!! The best thing about the 'Shoe in Tunica is their food. You have a choice of Aces Snack bar or the Buffet. The brush will deliver food from the snack bar to the table and you can just sit there and get your grub on.
Service: They have an out of date waiting list which is just a clipboard with the list of games and names of people waiting. They have a mike and they call names. Make sure you are near the poker room and are paying attention, because they will pass you over. I usually start playing in the morning and play into the night, so I usually do not have to wait, but it is a madhouse at night. If your going to play at night be prepared to wait for an hour at least.
Games offered:
1-5 7card stud, 4-8 Limit, 10-20 Limit, 20-40 Limit; 1-2NL $300 Max, 2-5NL No Max.
They also have a big PL Omaha game on Sundays. I believe it is 25-50 PLO.
Comps: COMPS COMPS COMPS!!!!!!!
This is one of the reasons I love Tunica so much. They treat poker players like royalty. If you ever want anything to eat regardless of the limits or the time you have played just give the Poker Room Manager you card and tell him what you want. You do not have to have a certain amount of credits on your account to qualify for free food.
The best kept secret in Tunica, which I learned from a buddy of mine, is that if you want a good meal and not the buffet or Aces Snack Bar you can get a $30 Comp to Nawlins for each player that has a reward card. Just ask the PR manager for a comp for Nawlins and enjoy. The rib-eye is delicious. I highly recommend.
Poker room rates are available, but you have to stay at the Grand Casino which is down the road a little, but for $39 a night, I will take it.
