Lotto 47 is an in-state lottery game played by people in Michigan. The base games replaced Winfall on May 15, 2005. Rather than physically drawing balls out of a barrel, the game uses a random number generator, like those in slot machines, to choose the winning numbers twice each week. The least you can win in the game with a perfect pick of six (6) out of six (6) is one-million dollars ($1,000,000) if you choose the 30-year annuitized payout scheme. Jackpot winners who prefer to be paid cash in one lump sum will get about half that amount but have total control of their money after taxes.

There are four (4) ways to win the basic game which costs one-dollar ($1) per play as well as a chance to win between two-dollars ($2) and five-hundred dollars ($500) with the optional EZmatch feature. The price of the EZmatch game is an additional dollar ($1).

You need to be 18 years of age or older to play lottery games in Michigan.

How To Play Lotto 47

The Michigan Lottery sells tickets through retailers across the state. As of January 5, 2016, they also began offering tickets to several games online, including this one. Online and mobile app purchases are only available to Michigan residents who are physically located within the state's borders at the time of purchase. In addition to Lotto 47, Powerball, Mega Millions, and Fantasy 5 are the only online products available.

In this game, six (6) numbers are randomly generated from a pool of forty-seven (1-47). Players can either choose their own six (6) numbers or use the Easy Pick feature and let the lottery computer choose them for you.

To play online or at a retail location select the number of draws you wish to play, up to 60. Drawings are held twice each week at 7:29 pm on Wednesday and Saturday. Ticket sales stop at 7:08 pm on the night of the drawing so be sure to get your numbers in on time.

Online players can simply create an account at www.michiganlottery.com and add the purchase to their shopping cart, go to the checkout, and complete their purchase. You can review your tickets in the Upcoming Purchased Draws section and check for winning numbers online, with the mobile app or on television. If you are a winner you'll be alerted the next time you log in to your account.

In-store players will need to use a playslip and can choose to enter the same numbers in up to 60 future drawings (30 weeks). They also have the added benefit of winning instantly with the EZmatch feature. Whenever one or more numbers match the EZmatch number you win a cash prize up to $500.

If you have favorite numbers but want to choose which drawings you enter, just bring an existing playslip (less than 31 days old) to your retailer and ask for a Replay. They'll print you a new ticket using your favorite numbers.

How To Win Cash Prizes

Anyone who matches all six winning numbers will win the jackpot. If more than one person matches all six numbers the prize pool will be shared equally. If nobody wins the jackpot it will be added to the prize pool for the next draw. You can also win for matching five, four, or even three numbers out of six. Players who match 5 of 6 (5/6), 4 of 6 (4/6), or 3 of 6 (3/6), are guaranteed cash prizes of $2,500, $100, and $5 respectively.

If you choose the EZmatch option for an extra dollar you could win one of eleven random cash prizes ranging from $2 to $500. The overall odds of winning with EZmatch are one in five (1:5)
