Kentucky Pick 3/Pick 4 Lotto
Kentucky Pick 3 lotto and Pick 4 lotto are very similar games in structure and payout pattern. There are a few differences and they will be outlined accordingly as follows:
For starters, both games are daily games. What’s more, they are drawn twice daily! Lotto Results: Midday drawings occur at approximately 1:25 p.m. EST and the evening drawing takes place at approximately 11:00 p.m. EST.
Pick 3 lotto players begin by choosing their lucky numbers. They are to choose three (3) numbers between zero and nine (0-9) or have the computer choose by requesting a Quick Pick. The player must then decide the amount they would like to wager. Players can play fifty cents ($0.50) or a dollar ($1). Once these two things are established, players are to select a play style. Play styles to choose from are Straight, Box, Straight/Box, Front Pair, Back Pair, Split Pair or Super Straight.
In Pick 4 lotto, the steps are the same so far minus a few small details. Firstly, players are to select four (4) numbers. Secondly, players of Pick 4 only have three (3) play styles to choose from. Straight, Box and Straight/Box are the only play style options available in Pick 4.
The breakdown is as follows: A Straight play is won by matching all three numbers in the exact order as they were drawn. In Pick 3, the odds of this win are 1:1,000 and you can win up to six hundred dollars ($600) with a one dollar ($1) wager. In Pick 4, the odds are 1:10,000 and you can win up to five thousand dollars ($5,000) with a one dollar ($1) wager.
A Box play still requires matching all of the winning numbers, but they can be in any order. In Pick 3 there are two (2) cash prize payout categories to win in. If the winning numbers are all unique numbers, the cash prize is one hundred dollars ($100) and if two (2) of the numbers are the same the cash prize is two hundred dollars ($200). In Pick 4 there are four (4) payout categories in Box play. There is a 4-Way Box when three of the winning numbers are the same. The cash prize for the 4-Way Box win is twelve hundred dollars ($1,200). A 6-Way Boxed win requires the winning numbers be in two (2) pairs. In the event a player wins a 6-Way Box play, the cash prize is eight hundred dollars ($800). When the winning numbers contain only one pair of numbers, players can win a 12-Way Box. Te payout for this win is four hundred dollars ($400). When all four (4) of the winning numbers are unique numbers, players can win a 24-Way Box, which fetches a two hundred dollar ($200) cash prize.
Pick 3 lottery players as well as Pick 4 lottery players may choose to play Straight/Box, which as one might imagine, is the combining of the two play styles. For each game, the Straight/Box plays have all the Box variables of the particular game, respectively.
That’s the end of the line for Pick 4 lotto players. Pick 3 lotto players on the other hand are just getting started. Pick 3 players may still play Front Pair, Back Pair, Split Pair and Super Straight. Pairs play, as the name so cleverly suggests involves matching either the first two (2) numbers drawn in Front Pair play, matching the last two (2) numbers drawn as in Back Pair play or matching the first and last numbers drawn as in Split Pair play.
Super Straight play requires a wager of one dollar and fifty cents ($1.50), but players can match the numbers in any order and still receive the Straight win cash prize.
Both Pick 3 lottery and Pick 4 lottery players may play their numbers up to seven consecutive drawings in advance by selecting the appropriate number of drawings on the play slip in the Multi-Draw section or asking the retailer.
Pick 3 lotto and Pick 4 lotto players have only one hundred and eighty (180) days from the date of the drawing to collect their winnings. Cash prizes up to six hundred dollars ($600) can be claimed at any Kentucky Lottery Retailer. Winning tickets up to five thousand dollars ($5,000) may be redeemed at any authorized cashing agent.
