The Shoshone-Bannock Tribe of Idaho is considering building a $311 million, 500,000 square-foot casino on a 157-acre parcel near Mountain Home purchased in early 2020, according to news sources. The proposal envisions a casino with 2,000 electronic gaming machines, a 250-room hotel, six restaurants, a 15,000-square-foot event center, a 16-lane bowling alley, a movie theater with two screens, and an arcade. The development would be built in phases on the parcel off Interstate 84 at Exit 95 and could potentially begin contributing to the tribe in 2026.

The Shoshone Bannock Tribes, based in Fort Hall, Idaho, applied for federal approval of their off-reservation casino with the United States Department of Interior, which has not decided on the proposal as of March 2023. The Tribes operate three resort casinos, including Bannock Peak Casino in Arbon Valley, Sage Hill Travel Center & Casino and Shoshone Bannock Casino Hotel in Fort Hall, on Tribal land across Southern Idaho.

Developers of the proposed resort casino reportedly said they intend to move forward with the entertainment portion of the project if the federal government and Republican Gov. Brad Little reject their gaming license.
