Built in France in 1988 and part of the Seattle-based Windstar Cruises six-ship fleet of small sail and all-suite yachts, the 101-crew Wind Spirit is a 4-masted sailing yacht for which registry is in Nassau, Bahamas. The Wind Spirit boasts the unusual designation as a Motor-Ship-Yacht, which means that she has the ability to function on wind power alone or by diesel engines.

The essence of small ship sailing, the Wind Spirit has four, open, teak decks, 73 deluxe ocean view staterooms located on decks 1 & 2, all with ocean views, queen beds, flat-screen TV with DVD player; and a 220 square feet owner's suite which includes a sitting area. The yacht's amenities include 3 dining venues and bars, a fitness center, computer internet stations, Wi-Fi, spa, boutique store, pool, watersports platform, lounge, library, hot tub, and casino. The cozy, well-appointed casino has two table games and 11 slot machines.

Dining & Restaurants

AmphorA Restaurant

Located on Dec 3 and one of Wind Spirit's two primary dining venues,  AmphorA offers gourmet, course-by-course cuisine in the evenings. The restaurant is outfitted in shades of navy and accented with dark wood panelling and has an old world sailing feel.  AmphorA is open for dinner from 7:30pm on with open seating allowing you to dine when you choose.

Veranda

One of Wind Spirit's two primary dining venues, Veranda is located on Deck 4 and is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows. Veranda offers open-seating, casual buffet-style and full-service dining for breakfast and lunch. Meals can be taken indoors or at one of the many outdoor tables while enjoying the view of the sea.

Candles

• Serving: Steak, Grilled , Cocktails

Located on Deck 4, Candles is Veranda's outdoor seating area and no-surcharge specialty restaurant, which features steaks and skewers. Reservations are recommended.

Fitness Center

The Wind Spirit's fitness center is located on Deck 2 and while small, is well-stocked with a vast array of equipment, such as free weights, stationary bicycles, treadmills & ellipticals, and can accommodate most types of workouts.

The Lounge

Located on Deck 3, the Wind Spirit's well-appointed lounge is a quiet place to go to relax during the day, but at night comes alive when the ship's resident pianist performs. It's an ideal place on the ship for guests to have a nightcap or to visit the casino, which is situated there and separated by walls of glass to keep sounds inside.

 

Pool Bar

The small but conveniently located pool bar can be found on Deck 4 directly above the lounge. The well-stocked bar flanks the pool and the hot tub and offers some barstool and table seating along with refreshing cocktails and other libations.
