Established in 1959 as Latonia Race Course and renamed Turfway Park in 1986, this Thoroughbred racetrack is located in the city of Florence in Northern Kentucky and is owned and operated by Churchill Downs Inc., which purchased the property in october 2019. The one-mile oval track is considerd "fast" no matter the weather and hosts live racing from late fall through early spring. And maintains winter dates for the state's year-round live racing circuit while also offering year-round simulcast wagering. The property also has stabling for approximately 1,000 horses.

In March 2021, Churchill Downs broke ground on a $145 million makeover of the track, which when reopened in 2022, will be known as Turfway Park Racing & Gaming. As part of the makeover, Turfway's landmark grandstand was razed in winter 2020 with a new building set to replace it. The project will reportedly include the largest simulcast area in the state, as well as a historical racing machine facility featuring up to 1,500 machines, a state-of-the-art clubhouse, food/beverage venues and a new inner dirt track to complement the existing one-mile synthetic main race track.

*Turfway is closed until the makeover is complete next year.
