Houston, Texas-based and NASDAQ-listed RCI Hospitality Holdings, Inc. has announced it has acquired a four-story, 30,000-square-foot building at 130 Main Street in Central City, Colorado for $2.4 million in cash. it is there that RCI subsidiaries plan to open and operate a Rick's Cabaret Steakhouse & Casino, where it will offer fine dining, entertainment, and casino/sports betting. The venue, which will be situated in the core of the downtown gaming district of the historic city, will reportedly offer 175 slot machines, a half-dozen blackjack tables, and a table each for craps and roulette. 

Casino efforts in Central City may be pushed back or abandoned as RCI may have other avenues through which to better deploy capital instead of waiting for the Colorado regulatory process to take shape, according to a May 2024 report. 

Central City is one of three cities in the state where casino gambling is legal. The other two cities are Black Hawk and Cripple Creek. The former is located within a mile of Central City, just 34 miles west of Denver, while the latter is 48 miles west of Colorado Springs.

If approved, the new property would add to RCI's gaming revenue from clubs in Louisiana and Illinois. Currently, the company's portfolio includes subsidiaries that own and operate more than 60 nightclubs and sports bars/restaurants in the US.
