Owner Kentucky-based Churchill Downs Inc. (CDI) opened its $290 million Terre Haute Casino Resort, located in the city of Terre Haute at 4442 East Margaret Drive in Vigo County, Indiana on April 5, 2024, almost two years after the groundbreaking for the 5-acre, 400-square-foot regional entertainment venue. The partial opening included four dining options and the nearly 60,000-square-foot casino floor, complete with approximately 1,000 slots and video poker machines, 36 live and electronic table games and a state-of-the-art Twin Spires-branded sportsbook and six-table poker room.

The 10-story, 122-room luxury hotel with a rooftop lounge, bar and pool, coffee shop and lobby bar started welcoming guests on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at the property, which is situated near I-70 and State Road 46. Other property amenities include a variety of dining options and bars/lounges and 7,930 square feet of flexible meeting and event space.

The project was approved for Terre Haute by the Indiana Gaming Commission on Nov. 17, 2021, and is expected to "compete strongly" with other venues, such as the 41,500-square-foot Golden Nugget Danville casino which opened its doors to the public on May 27, 2023.
