Louisville headquartered horse racing company, Churchill Downs Inc. (CDI) opened its seventh historical horse racing (HHR) entertainment venue in the City of Owensboro, Kentucky on Feb 12, 2025. The $100 million Owensboro Racing & Gaming is located on an approximately 20-acre site at the corner of US Highway 60 and Wrights Landing Road east of the city in the county seat of Daviess County. 

The 77,500 square-foot facility is open 24 hours and features 600 state-of-the-art historical racing machines (“HRMs”), including a designated smoking section with approx. 250 machines, a retail sportsbook, simulcast wagering, and food and beverage offerings. The property operates as an annex of Ellis Park Racing & Gaming, which CDI acquired in 2022. 

Guests can sign up for a Players Club Card to start earning rewards. 

Revenue from the venue will reportedly support purse funding for the thoroughbred racetrack's traditional summer racing meet.
