Update 3-24-2019: The East Windsor casino project gets green light from the federal government and construction is expected to start next month and the casino opening 18 to 24 months after construction begins.

Mohegan Sun Foxwoods is the newest, propsed casino in the state of Connecticut. If built, it will be the 3rd resort casino in the state. Foxwoods in Mashantucket, and Mohegan Sun in Uncasville are the two existing casinos in the state. Both are owned by the joint venture MMCT comprised of Mohegan and Mashantucket Pequot Tribe who plan to build this 3rd casino.

MGM is set to open its doors in Springfield Mass by 2018 which will be a direct competitor to Connecticut since it is located close to state borders. Fears of the MGM attracting customers out of state is the driving force behind building the new Foxwoods.

Bills still need to be voted on and passed before this proposal becomes official. As news becomes available, we will keep you updated.
