Forus Travbane is located near Stavanger and is the oldest continuously running racecourse in Norway. The first trotting race was held here on June 6th, 1920. The course and facility went through an extensive modernization that was completed on August 13, 1985.  Since that time Forus has become the fastest racecourse in the country.

Several international stars have come from Forus including Rex Rodney and Gentle Star and coldbloods king Spikeld.

There are about 45 race days per year, most of which occur on Tuesdays. The premiere event is the Forus Open which is run on a weekend at the end of June and into July depending upon the calendar. First place in this race is awarded 1 million Norwegian kroner.
