The Queen Baton Rouge Review Jump to comments
After in August 2020, receiving permission to move its gaming operations to a landside facility, the former Hollywood Casino broke ground on a new $85 million expansion project on August 10, 2021. The city's first land-based casino, The Queen of Baton Rouge, opened to the public on August 24, 2023. The existing riverboat casino was moved into an expanded version of its atrium while the valet parking area has been transformed into indoor space. Located near the Louisiana State Capitol and the Mississippi River, the new casino includes more than 100,000 square feet of casino space (from 62,000 sq ft), and 6,000-plus square feet of meeting and event space that includes 3 multi-purpose rooms.
Gamblers will find over 700 gaming machines, 18 gaming tables including Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Cajun Stud, Pai Gow Poker and more, as well as a DraftKings Sportsbook with self-serve kiosks and betting windows, along with a dedicated smoking patio, LIT Casino & Bar, with more than 100 slots and six table games. A night of American cuisine and entertainment can be had at 1717, while the three quick-service restaurants include Big Chicken, 3 Woks Noodle Bar and Capitol Coffee Baton Rouge
The Queen Casino & Entertainment, the parent company of the property, is moving another downtown riverboat it owns onto land. The Belle of Baton Rouge has started a $100 million expansion and renovation that will see the slot machines and table games moved into the casino atrium, adding restaurants, and reopening the 250-room hotel. That project is expected to be completed in fall 2024.
