Gambling corporation Caesars Entertainment Inc. and commercial developer, SL Green Realty Corporation are hoping to obtain a New York gaming license that would allow them to bring Caesars Palace Times Square to 1515 Broadway in the city's midtown neighborhood. The casino resort would be located in the SL Green building, which is the current headquarters of Paramount Global. The New York State Gaming Commission has been authorized to issue up to three casino licenses in New York City's five boroughs, Long Island or lower Hudson Valley.
A May 2024 survey by the No Times Square Casino Community Coalition found that just over 70% of Midtown residents oppose the opening of a casino at "the Crossroads of the World." According to the survey, four out of five residents say they are concerned about crime, quality of life and congestion.
