Pimlico Race Course Review Jump to comments
On May 27, 2023, the owners of Pimlico Race Course notified employees that they are shutting down the track's off-track betting (OTB) facility by June 30, 2023.
Located in Baltimore, Maryland, Pimlico Race Course is a thoroughbred horse racetrack that has been around since 1870. It is the second oldest racetrack in the U.S. behind Saratoga, which debuted in 1864 in upstate New York. It hosted the Preakness Stakes on May 20, 2023, and also hosts various II and III-grade stakes races.
The track has a one-mile dirt oval, surrounding a seven-furlong (7/8 mile) turf oval and is owned by the Stronach Group and operated by the Maryland Jockey Club. Visitors enjoy daily simulcast racing in the Sports Palace. The Pimlico operation does not offer food and beverage service, according to the website. There are, however, vending machines with snacks, soda and coffee available.
