Les Bois Park Review - CLOSED Jump to comments
Les Bois Park is located at 5610 Glenwood Street in Garden City, (Boise) Idaho. The venue originally opened as the Fairgrounds Racetrack but was renamed Les Bois Park in 1973. It closed in 2008 but re-opened in 2011. It is the only commercial race course in Idaho and offers about 30 days of live racing each year. Simulcast betting is open year round and they added Historic Horse Racing machines in 2014.
The track, and all horse racing in Idaho, is overseen by the Idaho Racing Commission (a division of the Idaho State Police). The Commission lowered the number of required live race days from 40 to 15 allowing them to reopen in 2011. The next year saw 36 days and it now seems to have stabilized at 30, which is half of all live race days in the state - the remainder being run at county fairs.
The course runs thoroughbreds and quarter horses. The track is a 3/4 mile oval with a 660 yard stretch. There are 2 chutes of 2 and 5 furlongs respectively.
If you saw the movie Sea Biscuit, you saw Les Bois Park's most famous hall of famer, Gary Stevens, playing jockey George Woolf riding the star.
The Turf Club Bar & Grill is also a simulcast facility open until midnight daily. The newer "slot machine" section for playing Historic parimutuel Horse racing machines is open until 2am. Live race dates run early May through the first part of August or later. Gates open at 4pm with the first post at 5:30pm.

Gaming at Les Bois Park
Les Bois Park has been providing racing entertainment and betting for 4 decades, except for a 3 year hiatus from 2009-2011. Anyone 18 or older can place a bet and collect their winnings right away. Online wagering is accepted through IdaBet.
Les Bois is one of only 9 simulcast facilities in the state with more sure to open soon if the 2011 law allowing exceptions holds up. Simulcast racing is available in the Turf Club from 10am - midnight seven days a week. You will be betting on live races broadcast in real time, from top tracks all over the world. The fullest cards are offered Friday through Sunday with only about 3 races on Tuesday, but at least the room isn't dark.
Historic Horse racing Machines came to Les Bois Park in mid-2014. They have 200 in operation and game play goes on until 2am daily. Many of these machines appear at first glance to be slots or electronic bingo but the results of a spin are based on a race that has occurred in the past. Players are given enough information to make an informed decision (but not the date or location of the race) or can let the machine choose the outcomes for them. A small screen displays a video of the race's finish.
